Testimonials

"Our family was confronted with a real dilemma: we had a wonderful story to tell with an abundance of vintage photography, as well as written, verifiable historical documents. Now, what do we do with all that? Our intention was to produce an attractive and readily readable historical document that would be relevant to our family’s current generation as well as those generations yet to come.
After an extensive search and interviewing many candidates, we finally engaged Sarah Merrill of Merrill Memoirs. What a very fortunate decision!
We began by meeting with Sarah and telling stories of our family as best we knew and could recollect them. We then sorted through our photo archives as well as other family historical documents.
Out of these efforts, drafts of our story began to emerge, and we realized our great good fortune in selecting Sarah as our co-author. She was so easy to work with. She was so accommodating in dealing with all the various project impediments that arose on our journey. She was so sensitive to the precious, beautiful story of our family. Out of all this came “Family, Faith and Fortitude” - The story of our family. For which we
are all most thankful and appreciative." (John Santa, December 2024)

"My dad was so happy with everything: with how the book looked, as well as how it read. He said that everyone should do this if they have an elderly parent...pass all the memories down to the next generations."

"This process has been interesting, fun and enlightening. My dad was worried about trying to remember his earlier years and speaking about them with a stranger. Sarah put him at ease and he looked forward to each interview. He would go off on tangents, but Sarah managed to get him right on track again. I believe reliving most of the memories made him happy and he found speaking with Sarah like talking to a good friend."

"I've known my grandmother for all of my 42 years. I really didn't think I would hear anything I didn't already know. But Sarah was able to pull
out stories and names that Nan didn't even remember that she knew. I learned so much about her and it opened up hours of conversation between us that surprised me. I can't wait until the rest of the family reads it; they will really be amazed and happy that we took the time to have this book done professionally. It will be a treasure to all of us forever."

"From start to finish, Sarah was professional, warm, accommodating and just a lovely person. I would highly recommend having Sarah involved in preparing an oral history for anyone who wants to have his/her memories kept alive for the next generation."

"The book is beautiful and the entire family was impressed. We really appreciate the chance to get to know my grandfather a little better."

"Sarah is a delightful person and I found time flitting by too quickly during our interview. Her visit is still a topic of conversation among our children and among our friends."
